Microwave Heating Pillows
I’m having a yard sale and I need help with pricing things?

I am having a yard sale this weekend and i just realized I have no idea how much I should price things at. I don’t want to rip myself or others off. Is there a general rule of thumb?

here or some of the things that I have…
shoes (in good condition/ dress, tennis, casual, work, flip flops)
Clothes (t-shirts, dress clothes, casual all in good condt, in-style, and some name brands)
nick nacks
small table
microwave
heated hair rollers that have only been used once
nail polish
movies/ dvds/ cds
pillows
picture frames
wall decor (pictures/ posters)
and more.

Thank you for your help!
Oh, I am also selling a relatively old cd player and portable cd player (both work)

Where are you located? I am going out to yard sales inthe morning LOL.
It’s really just according to where you live as to what you’d charge for different things. I’ve found that if you live in a “rich” neighborhood ( close to a pretty large city most times they have the lower prices).. but if it’s just in a “regular” neighborhoodsmaller town, they have higher prices. or atleast where we live do.
here are some prices i have seen for the thigns you have listed.
shoes 25 cents to a dollar clothes 25 cents, to 3 or 4 dollars nick naks 25 cents to a dollar small table 5 bucks? or 10? microwave 15.00? nail polish a quarter? movies ect 1 to 3 dollars, wall decor 1 to 5 dollars. hope that helps a little. and hope ya have good luck!

Filler Pillows

Filler Pillows

What’s in a Bean Bag Chair?

A bean bag, by definition, is thought to be a bag filled with dried beans.  However, despite its straight-forward name, a bean bag chair does not have to be filled with beans.  There are, in fact, several fillings available for your bean bag chair.  Each one is unique and has its own sets of advantages and disadvantages.

Polystyrene Beads

For several years, one of the most common bean bag fillers has been polystyrene beads.  These beads provide a unique comfort.  They compress and shift around to form to your body as you sink into the comfort of your chair.

Styrofoam Peanuts

Another form of filler is Styrofoam peanuts.  The advantage to using Styrofoam peanuts is that whenever you receive packages in the mail, chances are you get a whole new supply of peanuts as well.  Those can be tossed into your bean bag chair to help re-fill it as the contents inevitably begin to break down.  A few packing peanuts here and there will keep your chair in its ideal shape.

Rice & Beans

Dried beans and/or rice can also be used to fill your bean bag.  These items are both relatively inexpensive and are available at your every-day supermarket.  However, if you live in a moist/humid environment, this may not be the best solution for you.  Using rice and/or beans as a filling may also attract moths, insects or even rodents.

Wood Shavings

Perhaps not quite so commonly known are wood shavings.  Wood shavings of all types can be used to fill up your bag.  Cedar chips in particularly are very appealing to many people because not only do they smell wonderful, they also repel fleas.  If you have pets in your house, cedar wood chips might be just the right filler for you.

Polyester Stuffing

Pillow stuffing is also sometimes used to stuff your bean bag.  Although it is a somewhat inexpensive solution, it in essence makes a giant pillow and lacks the buoyancy that beads provide.  After a few sittings, the stuffing will be packed down and will need re-fluffing.

Feathers

Assuming you aren’t allergic to them, feathers and down make a great stuffing.  However, before you can fill your bean bag with feathers, you must have a second casing in which to put the feathers.  Otherwise, they will work their way through the fabric of your chair.

Polyurethane foam

Polyurethane foam is the latest type of professional bean bag stuffing.  This filler is made of small chunks of high density foam.  It provides much needed support, is extremely comfortable and can be shaken up for re-shaping over and over again.

Find the filler that is right for you.  No matter what you decide to use, you’re sure to sit back and relax in the comfort of your bean bag chair!

Decorative Pillows Instructions

The Ultimate Yard Sale Guide for Home Decorators

We all have perfectly good furniture and art pieces that no longer fit with our dcor and yard sales are a good way to get rid of them while earning enough to buy something new that really fits. And visiting those sales is one of the most inexpensive ways to add new life to your home decorating style. The piece that doesn’t fit in someone else’s home may be just what you were looking for! – And at a fraction of the piece of a new piece!

If you have never been to a garage sale, it is easy to come home with a carload of bargains you have neither use nor room for. A chair for a dollar is no bargain if you already have ten more chairs than you need. As a veteran yard-saler myself, let me offer these tips for the yard-sailing newbie:

1. Make a list of what you need and stick to it. And that means even if you discover a cheap treasure you “might be able to use sometime.” Believe me, in six months you will be selling it at your own yard sale – for half the price!

2. Measure your room, windows and available space for certain furniture needs. And speaking from experience, remember to take the list with you!

3. Make a list of addresses and short instructions about how to get there. Check the classifieds and free shopper ads for times and rules. Some people get very grumpy if you interrupt their sleep by showing up at their home two hours before the sale starts.

4. Keep small bills in your hand and leave large bills in your purse. If you take out a big roll of large bills, there is not a vendor alive who will give you a lower bargain price for the item you want. They want their share of that roll!

5. Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Getting to a yard sale before its “picked over” assures you can find more that you might be able to use. When you visit a yard sale later in the afternoon, vendors are more likely to take much less for the items they still have because they don’t want to pack them back in the garage! You might be able to find some good bargains for furniture that was overpriced earlier.

6. Take a partner with you. Share with your partner what each of you is looking for and spread out. You can cover twice as much distance in half the time!

7. Pick up everything you think you might want. You can always put it back. And if you don’t pick it up when you see it, chances are someone else will spy it and buy it!

8. Choose furniture with good bones such as solid wood construction and dovetailing. It’s much easier to refinish a good piece. Shoddily made furniture will still be shoddy after you redo it.

9. If you find drapes, scarves, sheets or bedspreads in a fabric that blends with your dcor, buy it to use for reupholstering a used chair, to make pillows for your room or dozens of other uses.

10. Picture frames, even empty ones, can be painted or stained to create new looks. You can always find unframed art you like and with the help of creative matting, you can make it all work together.

And one more thing – I have no scientific proof for this opinion, but I have found it true time after time – the bigger the sign, the lousier the yard sale. It’s as if they are using a large sign to make up for the lack of merchandise to attract buyers.

So next Saturday, make your list, take your measurements, grab a good friend and start your new decorating project. You will have fun; get plenty of exercise and save money. What better way to spend a day?
